Microsoft discontinues Small Business Server

Microsoft-Small-Business Server

Microsoft will be discontinuing Small Business Server (SBS) in the next few months. The popular and competitively priced small business solution, aimed at firms with between 5 and 75 staff, will reach its end-of-life on June 30th, when it will no longer be available as an Open license. The OEM versions will be available on new hardware until December.

Support for the latest version, SBS 2011, will remain available until 2020 and we are pleased to confirm that Trident will continue to provide this support to our clients. With this continued support SBS remains an attractive, affordable and user-friendly option, especially for clients running a separate SQL server installation or those running SBS 2008 on ageing hardware. However, for clients considering switching from an on-premise strategy to the cloud, the demise of SBS may present a timely opportunity to make the move.

Either way, if you’re a small business with up to 75 users, now is the time to get expert advice on what’s right for your business, especially as we expect significant demand for SBS in the next few months. To discuss your needs and to answer any questions you may have, or to arrange a free cloud feasibility assessment, please call us now on 01273 662777.
